Contaminated Salem Soccer Fields To Remain Closed

SALEM (CBS) - There does not appear to be any quick fix for two contaminated soccer fields in Salem.

Earlier this month, officials shut down the fields after high levels of metals were found in the soil.

The site used to be a dump.

According to the Salem News, city officials have issued an order requiring the fields to be capped with another two to three feet of clean soil.

The project won't likely be complete until sometime next fall.
