MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS/AP) -A Goffstown man landed in jail for allegedly pulling a gun on another driver. It happened on Interstate 93 in Manchester on Friday afternoon.

Police say 23-year-old Derek Mailhot of Goffstown and another driver were heading north on I-93 Friday. They were making unsafe lane changes that led to hand gestures between the drivers.

Police say as it progressed, Mailhot allegedly pulled alongside the other car and showed a handgun. That prompted the other driver to call 911.

A state trooper was able to stop Mailhot on Route 101 West in Bedford, within about four minutes of the call. A firearm was found and Mailhot was arrested on charges of criminal threatening and reckless conduct.

Mailhot was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 8.

it’s really becoming miserable to try to be a decent driver on Mass. roads these days. Obey the speed limit, follow the road rules, and jerks who don’t want to not only try to go around you anymore, they try to go out of their way to be hostile towards and to harass you. (Anybody out here experience more than the usual hostile tailgating anymore??) The law has to do more about that–you shouldn’t have to be belittled or rammed by idiots who don’t like it if you truly are going the speed or following the road rules that are posted. Regardless, the way to handle others irritating you on the road shouldn’t be about bullying on them. People experiencing this, play it safe: just keep looking ahead, don’t engage with folks like that, and if they come after you just drive to the nearest police station and let’s see if they’ll enjoy agreeing to follow you on that detour.
