QUINCY (CBS) – Thirteen South Shore beaches stretching from Quincy to Plymouth are closed to swimming heading into the Fathers Day Weekend after testing revealed high levels of bacteria.

All four sections of Wollaston Beach and five other Quincy beaches, including Avalon Beach are off limits to swimming.

WBZ  NewsRadio 1030′s Lana Jones reports.

Runoff from heavy rain is the likely culprit for high bacteria levels.

The water will continue to be tested but there is no timetable yet on when the beaches will reopen.

Run off from rain is the likely source.. OK But dumping snow into water sources wasn’t an issue.. Seems to me that If we had, we might be looking at more bacteria and god knows what else.. Rain Run off goes thru areas where snow was, Wonder what would have happened if we HAD dumped all the snow into the water….
