Recchi Wins 3rd Stanley Cup, Retires After 23 Years
BOSTON (CBS) - NHL veteran Mark Recchi made true on his word, and the 43-year-old announced his retirement Wednesday after winning his third Stanley Cup in his 23rd year in the league.
Acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2009 season, Recchi finished with seven points in the Stanley Cup Finals, including three assists in a 5-1 win at home in Game 6 against the Canucks.
"I started in British Columbia and to end it here, I couldn't ask for anything more," Recchi told NHL.com after the game.

Recchi broke into the NHL back in 1988 (four years before Bruins rookie Tyler Seguin was born) with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and won his first title with Jaromir Jagr, Mario Lemieux and the Pens in 1991. He won a second crown with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006 before winning his third and final title with the Bruins in 2011.
In 1,652 career games, Recchi tallied 1,533 points and 577 goals in the regular season. In playoff time, he scored 61 goals over 190 career playoff games.

"I hope to stay in the game at some point, but I'm going to enjoy this," Recchi told NHL.com. "I'm going to ride off into sunset and enjoy it."
