People Sharing Weight-Loss Tips On Facebook Page

BOSTON (CBS) - Joanna Czrew never sits still. We've heard a lot of people described that way but for Joanna we're talking constant movement. She even does squats and runs in place while styling her hair in front of the bathroom mirror. All of that movement isn't just nervous energy. It has helped her lose 80 pounds.

Like many women, this 26-year-old struggled with her weight for a long time.

"When I got on the scale it was 208 or 209 pounds. That's when I said, I need to do something about this," she explained.

It's taken about three years, but she is finally able to ditch all of her old clothes. Even the pair of black pants she often wore to hide her figure.

WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben reports.

"I hate them. I never want to see them again," she said.

Now, Joanna shares her diet success tips on Facebook.

"I think Facebook is a great thing for a lot of people, especially if they don't have the motivation or if they don't have someone to talk to," she said.

Joanna uses a Facebook page started by Peggy Bradford, who lost 75 pounds in a year.

"People were constantly coming up to me and saying, 'Oh my God, how did you do this? You really need to share your story," friends told her.

To do that, Peggy started a Facebook page called Steps to Good Health. On the page she shares her tips like carefully counting calories and exercise, exercise, exercise.

"The minute I step out of bed I put my pedometer on," she said.

She tries to take between 20,000 and 30,000 steps a day. That can often mean a few extra trips up and down the stairs of her home just to make that number.

Peggy and Joanna met trough the page and now both women offer their tips and support.

"I know there's a lot of people out there that feel alone or feel challenged," she said.

There's non specific diet plan but one of Joanna's favorite diet tricks is to a bit of peanut butter to healthy snacks like celery. The protein helps keep her fuller longer.

Joanna's not sure if it's the tips or just the support that have made her so successful. She's just happy to show off her new figure in a slim pair of jeans. The type of jeans she could only dream about a few years ago.
