Couple Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Concord, NH

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- A man apparently shot a woman to death at their Concord home, then turned the gun on himself Tuesday as police approached the driveway, the head of the state attorney general's homicide unit said Tuesday.

The two were found outside their home.

Several people inside the house, including several young children, were not hurt, said Jeffrey Strelzin, senior assistant attorney general.

"This was a very dangerous situation," he said.

At least one neighbor called 911 to report hearing gunshots shortly before 8 a.m.

Strelzin said the man was still alive as police approached the house.

"It appears he shot himself as they were coming up the driveway," he said.

The names of the victims were not released.

Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday.

Police have recovered a rifle they believe was the murder weapon, Strelzin said.

Neighbors said a family had moved into the house about a year ago.

The house was set back in the woods and only the driveway can be viewed by from the street.
