Middlesex County DA Joins With AT&T On Anti-Texting Program

WOBURN (AP) - The Middlesex District Attorney's Office and AT&T are working together on a program aimed at educating drivers -- especially teens -- on the danger of texting while driving.

The "It Can Wait" campaign includes a documentary produced by AT&T featuring stories from people whose lives have been altered by texting while driving. AT&T has been working with community leaders around the country on similar education programs.

The first program will be presented Monday for students at Woburn High School. Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and AT&T Regional Vice President David Mancuso are scheduled to speak. Students will be asked to sign a pledge stating that they will not text and drive.

AT&T first began the "It Can Wait" campaign in March 2010. So far, more than 21,600 people have taken the pledge.
