Boston Teen Accused In "Violent " Fight With Police Officer

BOSTON (AP) - A Boston teenager has pleaded not guilty to drug and police assault charges after police said he assaulted a police officer and the officer's gun went off.
 
James Sanders was arraigned from Boston Medical Center while he recovers from what authorities are describing as non-life-threatening injuries.
 
According to police, the18-year-old was seen taken part in a drug transaction Thursday evening when police approached him. Police said Sanders ran from the officer but the officer caught up with him. Police said Sanders then engaged in a "violent physical altercation" with the officer until the gun went off.
 
His attorney, Daniel Toscano, said Sanders has never been in trouble with the law and looks forward to his day in court.
 
A pre-trial hearing is set for July 11 in Boston Municipal Court.
