Sen. Brown Helps Springfield Tornado Victims, Pushes For Federal Relief

SPRINGFIELD (CBS) - Senator Brown rolled up his sleeves and helped local charitable organizations pass out food and other necessities to residents hit hard by the tornadoes.

Brown, who hopped on a Salvation Army truck, said he was surprised at how optimistic everyone seems to be.

"People who have basically lost everything… but they just say 'you know, it's stuff. We're going to move on we're going to ban together as long as my family is healthy and safe,' they're good," said Senator Brown.

Brown vowed to keep pressing Congress to provide emergency funding for Masaschusetts as quickly as possible.

"It's always a concern when you're dealing with the federal government. Senator Kerry and my role is to continue to keep the pressure on and that's certainly what we're going to do," he said.
