RI To Offer Red Sox License Plates

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island drivers will soon be able to show their loyalty to the Boston Red Sox with a new state license plate.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee (CHAY-fee') has signed legislation into law authorizing the state to issue the new specialty plate.

The plates will bear the team's iconic red socks logo and will cost $40 more than traditional vehicle tags. Twenty dollars of that amount will go to the Red Sox Foundation to benefit selected Rhode Island-based charities.
