State Troopers Save Highway Worker Having Heart Attack
MEDFORD (CBS) – Two State Troopers saved a Mass Highway worker's life Tuesday.
Troopers Thomas Loughran and Geoffrey Stokes were working a paid detail on Route 28 at the Assembly Square Mall in Somerville when they saw the DOT worker suddenly collapse.
He had a massive heart attack.
"Myself and Trooper Stokes began CPR and we continued CPR until the Somerville Fire Department showed (up)," Trooper Loughran told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Wednesday.
The man, identified only as a 60-year-old from South Boston, was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he's now recovering.

Stokes said they get CPR training every six months and they don't think much about it – until they have to use it.
"We come across a lot of unusual things in our job and this is just one of them. I haven't had too many opportunities to use my CPR training. It's good that we were close by," he said.
