BOSTON (CBS) – A black bear was spotted near Route 2 east in Westminster Wednesday morning.

Investigators from Environmental Affairs are heading to the area to track it down, spokesman Reggie Zimmerman told WBZ-TV.

State and local police have shut down part of the road as a precaution.

In Wayland, students were kept inside three schools in town after a bear was seen there Wednesday morning.

It’s not clear if that bear is the one spotted in Weston Tuesday morning.

Where in Wayland was the bear spotted?

A bear being spotted in Westminster is news? Out west beyond Rt. 495 and Rt. 190 we realize we live with black bears and have even learned to take our bird feeders down in the early spring unless you want to invite a bear visit. I live in Sterling and we have had numerous bear sightings and even moose on occasion.

It’s very simple, the more we take away their habitat the more bears and other wildlife we’ll meet face to face…it’s our fault

Shutting down a road as a precaution against bears? Huh? Are bears really any more dangerous than the thousands of morons already driving on the road?

  4. J says:

I hope they don’t hurt the bears you know how the public gets *sigh*. I agree w/you Jp.
