BOSTON (CBS) – Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks is feeling good and ready to come off the disabled list.

“I’m back at 100-percent,” said Jenks before Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox. “My arm is feeling great. Had a few rehab starts down in Pawtucket, and I was throwing the ball well. I was commanding all my pitches and I’m feeling good.”

Jenks was placed on the disabled list on May 5 with a strained right bicep. It was an injury the right-hander tried to pitch through, but the pain became unbearable. It was a very serious strain that he feared could turn into a tear if he did not hit the DL.

“It’s something we could have caught sooner but I was really stubborn and thought I could throw through it,” he said. “To get back feeling no pain it was about a week and a half. It was a pretty good strain, real close to a major tear. It was unfortunate”

Jenks made two rehab outings in Pawtucket over the weekend, allowing one run off two hits over two innings of work.

Jenks struggled to start his Red Sox career, posting a 1-3 record with a 9.35 ERA.

To make room for him on the Major League roster, the Red Sox optioned Michael Bowden to Pawtucket.
