Sunny Forecast For Weather & Economic Outlook Around Winnipesaukee In NH

MEREDITH, NH (CBS) - Businesses around Lake Winnipesaukee are gearing up for a busy holiday weekend. At Brown's Boat Basin, they're working to get boats in the water for customers anxious to kick off the summer season.

Stephen Hinchey is the service manager at Brown's. He says it's very hectic. "This time of year we've got a hundred boats to get in the water and running for the weekend, which is a lot to get done in a short period of time, but we're gaining on it," Hinchey said.

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports

He told WBZ-TV the recently sunny weather is helping out. "It feels great… been a long time coming. We've been swimming around here for weeks waiting for the sun to come out."

Memorial Day weekend is considered the unofficial start to the summer season. The state is predicting 540,000 people will visit New Hampshire this holiday weekend. They're expected to spend $85 million; that's a three percent increase from last year.
