Maine Residents Hold Vigil For Camden Pierce Hughes
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine (CBS) - The story of a little boy from Texas found dead in Maine a week ago has touched hearts around New England.
The body of 6-year-old Camden Pierce Hughes will be flown back to Texas this week.
While the boy's mother Julianne McCrery sits in a New Hampshire jail accused in his death, residents of South Berwick, Maine, the community where he was found, focused only on Camden Saturday night at a vigil.
WBZ-TV's Jim Smith reports.
Balloons were sent skyward as a message to heaven for a little boy who was taken much too soon.

The people of South Berwick offered their own farewell for Camden one week almost to the hour after his body was discovered on a wooded road, setting off a chain of events that broke the heart of this community.

People kept showing up to Saturday's vigil; many of them mothers with children in tow, holding small hands just a little bit tighter, and trying their best to explain the unexplainable.

For days, he was a victim without a name, a little boy left alone in the woods. That's why this community in a sense, has adopted this young victim. That's also why many people in South Berwick felt like they had to attend the vigil.
Vigils were held in communities across Massachusetts, including Lynn, Foxboro, and South Hadley.
