Toucher & Rich: Shawn Thornton 'Seguin's Playing The Way He Needs To'

The Boston Bruins take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at St. Pete Times Forum.

Shawn Thornton spoke with Toucher & Rich about this evening's Game 3, the lineup, Tyler Seguin and his thoughts on Martin St. Louis.

Everyone is waiting for Patrice Bergeron to return, has Thornton heard anything? If Bergeron does return in Game 3 someone will need to sit. Could Thornton be the one the odd man out, and when would he find out?

They also discussed Tyler Seguin's success in these Eastern Conference Finals and conversations that Thornton had with Seguin about not playing, but staying ready.

"I've been there before," said Thornton. "It's tough when you're younger to keep your head into it when you're the odd man out for 11 games."

"I just wanted to let him know he was going to play," Thornton said about his talk with Seguin. "It was more physically, make sure you keep yourself in shape. Don't let hockey get in way of your vacation. Don't be thinking like that."

"When you're ready to go you'll be chomping at the bit and he was," he continued. "The last couple games, even if he didn't get any points, the way he's played we haven't seen in awhile. He's been really strong on pucks, finishing his checks. He's playing the way he needs to play and the other stuff is coming with it. It's good to see him be rewarded for his play."

People are expecting Game 3 to be more of a defensive game after what happened in Game 2, what do the B's need to do on defense tonight?

Also what does Thornton think of Martin St. Louis?
