Norfolk County Plans To Start Overnight Aerial Mosquito Spraying

NORFOLK (CBS) - Norfolk County is going on the offensive against mosquitoes. Starting May 31, officials will begin early morning aerial spraying targeting adult mosquitoes.

Workers have already been using helicopters to drop bags of Larvacide in wetlands and other spots where there is a lot of standing water. But, up until now, they have only been targeting mosquito larva.

With all the rain, state officials are bracing for an enormous mosquito population this spring and early summer.

The objective of spraying is to control nuisance and/or virus carrying adult mosquitoes.

The spraying will take place between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The Norfolk County Mosquito Project's website has a map and list of scheduled spraying.
