2 Teens Killed In Fall River Crash

FALL RIVER (CBS) - Police said two 17-year-olds were caught breaking into cars in Tiverton, Rhode Island and were later killed in a horrific car accident in Fall River on Wednesday morning.

"The car hit a utility pole at a very high rate of speed, and split in two," said Fall River Police Capt. Jeff Cardoza.

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.

Killed were 17-year-old Tre Paquette of Fall River, and 17-year-old Robert Alves, of Central Falls, R.I.

The crash happened at 3:39 Thursday morning on Stafford Road in Fall River.

But, minutes before and about a half mile away in Tiverton, police were called when a resident saw two people with flashlights looking into his car, trying to break in.

A police officer arrived, and detained two young men in a van, but two others (Alves and Paquette) took off in a dark green sedan. Minutes later, the two teens were dead.
