Lawmakers Biking To Beacon Hill This Week

BOSTON (CBS) - Some members of a group called "Mass Legislature Bikes to Save the Planet" are biking to work at Beacon Hill this week.

It's something that Belmont state Rep. William Brownsberger does every week, regardless of the weather. He calls biking "patriotic."

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports.

"It saves gas. We're keeping the balance of payments going in the right direction for our country," said Rep. Brownsberger.

Rep. Brownsberger talked to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 on his hands-free cellphone as he biked to work, saying that it's "legal."

He added he's enjoying the healthy benefits of biking.

"I think (it's good for my health). As long as I don't get killed," said Rep. Brownsberger.

There's no word on how many Massachusetts lawmakers will actually bike to work this week considering the number of rainy days ahead.
