BOSTON (CBS) — Berklee College of Music now has the green light from the Boston Redevelopment Authority to proceed with its largest expansion ever.

One of the project’s highlights is expansion of dorm space at Berklee.  The expansion will include a 24-story tower on Mass Ave., on land purchased from the Christian Science Center, plus a 17-story building down the street.

The college’s president tells WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Anthony Silva this will help free up some nearby apartments, making it more affordable for people to live in the city.

Berklee has raised millions to help make the project a reality.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Anthony Silva reports.
