Red Sox Equipment Stolen From Fenway Park, Man Arrested In NY

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (CBS/AP) - A man from Nahant has been arrested on Long Island in connection with the theft of Boston Red Sox memorabilia from Fenway Park.

Jamie Pritchard-Holland, 32, is charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. He was arrested May 4.

WBZ-TV's Cristina Hager reports

New York Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said that Pritchard-Holland posed as the father of a sick child who needed to sell his collection of Red Sox items to pay medical bills. He attempted to sell the stolen goods on an online auction site.

DA Spota said that Holland had a collection of Red Sox uniforms, caps, helmets, jackets, a home plate, Dustin Pedroia's cleats, and Kevin Youkilis's glove. He also allegedly had the 380-foot outfield marker on the bullpen door at Fenway Park taken off and autographed by Johnny Pesky after he told the Red Sox legend's family about his "sick child."

But, according to DA Spota, "There was no sick child, no hospital bills, no doctors bills, nothing but pure greed on Holland's part."

"Holland's fraud was exposed five months ago when Major League baseball investigators saw the stolen goods for sale on the Leland's website and called our office," DA Spota said.

He was also arrested in March for shoplifting at the Northshore Mall in Peabody.

Pritchard-Holland's attorney said her client had no idea the items were stolen and that someone gave the items to him to see what he could get if he sold them.

WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill reports

The Red Sox told WBZ-TV they would not comment on an ongoing police matter.

On Monday, a longtime clubhouse manager for the New York Mets was charged with stealing team property valued at more than $2.3 million.
