BOSTON (CBS) - A lawsuit has been filed against eight companies connected to the big dig project.

This one involves the death of a motorist due to the handrails in the area between the Sumner Tunnel and Storrow Drive.

Back on March 27, Brian Hicks became the eighth person killed in a crash that involved the handrails.

Hicks lost control of his truck, was ejected, and according to attorney Barry Feinstein, was killed when he became entangled in the "razor sharp guard rails."

Feinstein claimed the state has been aware of the problem for some time.

The Hicks' lawsuit seeks $2 million plus additional damages. Last fall, the widow of a state trooper killed by the guardrails won a $9 milion lawsuit.

Last month, the state announced it would begin removing those hand rails.

Calls by WBZ NewsRadio 1030 placed to Bechtel, Parson Brinkerhoff, and Tuttle Aluminum were not returned.
