BOSTON (AP) – Former City Councilor Michael F. Flaherty, who unsuccessful ran for Boston mayor in 2009, says he will run for Boston City Council at Large.
In a statement Sunday he said he loves the city and misses serving it and its residents.
Instead of seeking reelection in 2009, Flaherty challenged Mayor Thomas M. Menino. He was an at-large councilor from 2000 to 2010.
Flaherty said his priorities will be to fight violence and substance abuse and try to improve Boston’s schools.
He says he will apply for nomination papers Monday morning.
