Man Killed, Daughter Unhurt After 3-Day Manchester, NH Standoff

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS/AP) -- A standoff in Manchester, N.H. that lasted three days has come to an end.

Attorney General Michael Delaney says police shot and killed 50-year-old James Breton Saturday after he spent three days barricaded inside his apartment.

Authorities say they initially showed up on Thursday night to check on the welfare of Breton's 7-year-old daughter, who was in the apartment.  At the time, police report Breton waved a handgun at them and made threats.

That young girl was removed from the building Saturday uninjured. No police officers were hurt.

Police had reopened the street Saturday morning. The apartment building itself still had yellow police tape Saturday.

The standoff forced school officials to cancel classes Friday at West High School nearby.
