With a small crowd, a band, and Mayor Tom Menino watching, Romeo and Juliet made their re-entry into the lagoon at the Public Garden.
"We talk about spring coming, this is really the official start of the spring season in our city and the official start of the Public Garden's operation," Menino said.
The swans' release has been an annual event at the Garden for more than 20 years.
