What Did Jack Edwards Say?

BOSTON (CBS) – Bruins fans who stayed up for the end of NESN's post-game coverage Wednesday night witnessed an odd moment from B's eccentric play-by-play man Jack Edwards.

Watch: Jack Edwards post game speech

The minute-and-a-half speech blasted the Canadiens and the way they appear to act like the "royalty" of hockey.

Here's a sample from the rant:

Yet, those 'royals' sit there on their shiny thrones and primp in their hand mirrors and try to dictate morality according to them, about how you can dive, or how you should play, and how you shouldn't run a player into the center glass.

The speech left many fans puzzled by what they just saw.

Edwards tried to clarify it Thursday morning in an interview with Toucher & Rich on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

"It is about a 5-hour drive from Montreal through those free and independent states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. You leave me with enough time to think about things and something's going to foment and ferment. (laughing)"

"I definitely thought about it and I definitely had a lot of my thoughts in order and I think I got most of them out in the right order last night when we winged it after the game. It didn't belong in the game coverage and I didn't want to put it in the game coverage and I thank our producer Brian Zechello for letting me do my venting after the game. I thought about that really carefully, I mean words are really important to me."
