Woman Injured When SUV Crashes Through Her Worcester Home

WORCESTER (CBS) – Police were on scene Thursday night at the intersection of Institute Road and Park Avenue following a violent crash. 

An SUV drove off the road, went airborne, and slammed through the front of the house.

Police say a woman in her eighties, who was inside the home, was injured. Rescuers found her buried under debris inside the house. She was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. There was no word on her condition.

The building has been deemed uninhabitable. The power and water have been shut off.

The driver was on the front lawn when officers arrived. Worcester police say that person was not injured. No word on a cause or whether that person will face any charges.

    Can anyone explain to me how this type of accident is taking place more and more? Cars going into homes, banks, restaurants & convenience stores is becoming normal. One has to assume that far too many people are driving vehicles who should not be in the first place. Gas..Brake….Gas…Brake!!!!!!

    This is devastating, my heart goes out to the woman injured in her house. This poor lady was just minding her own business in her own house, my thoughts and prayers are with her. This could have been prevented, it will be interesting to find out the root cause of this accident. . .
