Boil Water Order In Nahant After Water Main Break

NAHANT (CBS) – There's a boil water order in Nahant after a water main break Thursday morning.

One of the two water mains feeding the town's supply broke around 5:40 a.m. near the Coast Guard Station on Castle Road, cutting off service to all 4,000 residents.

Town manager Mark Cullinan told WBZ-TV service was being restored across town around 9 a.m.  However, water pressure is low and residents should boil their water as a precaution for the next 24 hours.

The 14-inch pipe that broke is only 40 years old.  There was no construction in the area at the time of the break and the cause is still not known.
