MATTAPAN (CBS) — The search continues for the driver who hit a six-year-old boy and took off.

J-Veyon Humphries was crossing Delhi Street in Mattapan Monday night when friends say a speeding car hit the boy and never stopped.

WBZ-TV’s Kate Merrill reports.

Family tells WBZ-TV that Humphries was at his cousin’s and following his big brother who was headed out to play when the crash happened.

Neighbors say cars speed through the neighborhood often.

Police say they’ve located a “car of interest.” It’s a maroon Mitsubishi with a tan top.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Karen Twomey reports.

What the heck is a 6 year old doing crossing a street by himself? Why doesn’t DSS make a visit to this family and see why he is out in the street unsupervised?
