Valuable Crocodile Statue Stolen From Sudbury Yard
SUDBURY (CBS) - A one-of-a-kind crocodile disappeared from its Sudbury home on Sunday.
The reptile replica is a statue that sat on Fred Scott's yard for the last two years.
The sculpture is too large to fit inside Scott's house, so he kept it by the pond where lives on the Haynes Meadow Conservation Land.
WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports.
Scott, a former gallery owner, was holding it for Nigerian artist Christopher Ebigbo. The piece was supposed to go to a Boston museum later this year.
Scott says the statue is 8 feet long, 300 pounds, and valued at more than $14,000.
"Based on the tire tracks and the footprints I think they actually came while I was asleep," said Scott, who noticed it was missing Friday morning.
He's offering a reward for its return, and hoping it's still in one piece.
"My fear is it's going to be melted down for the value of the copper," said Scott.
