Celtics: Shaq Out For Game 1 Against Knicks, No Timeline For Return

BOSTON (CBS) – The Celtics announced on Saturday that Shaquille O’Neal will not be ready to play in game one of the playoffs on Sunday against the New York Knicks.

The team doctor said Shaq is progressing, but is still not ready to play.

The team did not give a timeline for his return.

O’Neal, out since April 3 with a calf sprain, averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 37 games for Boston.

Shaq s a great guy who does a lot of good things for people but his acquistion along with the Perkins deal has not been a good one for the Celtics. Danny Boy, what in the world were you thinking?

  • Sam

Shaq is nothing more than a sideshow at this point in his career. Ten years past his prime. What the f were the Celtics ever thinking?

  • Jake

Shaq does great things for the community, and WAS a great player. I think that the Celtics should re-think his contract and pull the medical statue in it. Sorry Shaq, but it’s time to retire.
