Lucic: Fans Want Us To "Beat The Hell" Out Of Habs

BOSTON (CBS) - Their series with the Montreal Canadiens is only a day away, and the Bruins are already feeling the excitement that comes with playoff hockey.

"If you're not excited about this time of the year there's something wrong with you," said 21-year veteran Mark Recchi, who has two Stanley Cup championships to his name.

With their fiercest rival up the first, Boston knows emotions will be high for the series.

"Our fans are going to want us to beat the hell out of them, and their fans are going to want to see them beat the hell out of us," Milan Lucic said. "The energy is going to be high in both buildings and that's what makes this rivalry so great. The fans are so pumped up about it and that's what makes it fun being a player."

Bruins Talk About Rivalry With Montreal

"A lot of hate," rookie Brad Marchand said of the Bruins feelings towards the Habs. "Just the excitement, it's going to be a great time. The history between the two teams makes it a big rivalry. I'm very excited."

The Canadiens took four of the six regular season matchups, but the Bruins are confident that if they make the Habs play their style of hockey, they can advance to the second round of the playoffs for the third straight season.

"We know we've had great games against them," Recchi said. "We know what we have to do as a hockey club. We have to focus on what we do and that's going to be our main focus. Our coaching staff will give us game-plans and adjustments, but if we play the way were capable of playing we feel we can beat anyone any night. At the same time you have to do it. You can talk about it, but you have to do it on the ice."

"It's the playoffs, it can come down to one little thing that makes the difference in winning or losing," Milan Lucic said. "We have to do a good job managing our emotions. Using it to our advantage and feeding off it. We don't have to change anything from how we played in the season. We still have to play with an edge and play that high energy game where we're in it emotionally"
