Curious About 'BZ Marathoners

Which WBZ reporters are participating in this year's Boston Marathon, and what brand of running shoe do they prefer?  Also, besides Boston, what are their favorite races?  - Robert, W. Yarmouth

We have 2 reporters and a web producer from Channel 4 participating in this year's Boston Marathon.

Reporter Peg Rusconi is running again.  This will be Peg's 7th Boston.   She likes the Asics DS Trainers for marathons.  For shorter races she's used Nike Zoom Elite.  Here's what she says about her favorite competitions:  "The Boston Marathon is my favorite race, hands down.  I also love the Harpoon 5-Miler; the fantastic 200+ mile relay across NH called Reach the Beach; the James Joyce Ramble and the Chilly Half Marathon.  Out of town shout outs to the Cincinnati Heart Mini-Marathon and the Clamfest 5-Miler in Yarmouth, Maine."

Reporter Paul Burton will tackle the course for the 7th consecutive time.  He'll be running for, and with the kids from the Ron Burton Training Village, an organization his father founded 26 years ago.  He typically runs in Reebok Zig Tech sneakers, but this year he'll use the Reebok Verona running shoe.

Web Producer Mike Toole is running his first Boston (but his 3rd marathon) to raise money for Children's Hospital Boston.  Mike's daughter, Avery, has been a patient there since birth.  Avery recently received a heart transplant at Children's at age 6.  You can see a very touching story about Avery and her family here.

Mike prefers Asics GT-2150 running shoes.  Here's what he says about his favorite races:  "I love the Falmouth Road Race and the BAA 5k.  I also hope to run the new BAA 10k this summer."

Monday is the big day.  The weather is looking to cooperate.  You can see it all on channel 4 starting at 8am.  I'll be at the finish line working on our coverage.  Should be fun!
