Road Closures & MBTA Changes For Boston Marathon

BOSTON (CBS) - Streets all along the Boston Marathon route will be closed to traffic on Monday, April 18th. Many roads in the city of Boston start closing days earlier.

CITY OF BOSTON

Wednesday April 13- Tuesday April 19

Boylston Street both side From Exeter Street to Arlington Street (intermittent closings)

Thursday April 14 - Tuesday April 19

Dartmouth Street (both sides) From St James Avenue to Boylston Street

Sunday April 17 – Tuesday April 19

Berkeley Street, from St. James Avenue to Newbury Street (intermittent closings)

Sunday April 17, 8am-10am

Boylston Street, Tremont Street, Park Street, Beacon Street, Arlington Street, Commonwealth Avenue (inbound side), Berkeley Street, Clarendon Street, Hereford Street will be closed intermittently for the BAA5K Run

Sunday April 17, 9am-11am

Boylston Street, Dartmouth Street, Newbury Street and Exeter Street will be closed intermittently for the BAA Invitational Mile

Monday April 18th

  • Streets around Copley Square will be closed at 6am
  • Streets inside of Mass Ave. will be closed at 9am
  • Streets outside of Mass Ave. will be closed at 10am

BOSTON PARKING RESTRICTIONS:

No Parking will be allowed on the following streets on Monday, April 18. Parking will be restricted on some of these streets several days in advance of Marathon Monday to allow for preparation work.

MBTA INFORMATION:

• Blue, Orange, Red and Green line service will operate on its regular weekday schedule with extra service before and after the marathon.

• Commuter rail trains will operate on its regular weekday schedule.

• All buses and trackless trolleys will operate on a Saturday schedule.

• Copley Station will be closed all day. Customers attending the Boston Marathon will have access to the Green Line at Hynes Convention Center or Arlington Stations

• Due to anticipated crowds, bicycles are not allowed on the subway on Patriot's Day.

• A Number of buses will be rerouted on Marathon Monday, and several in the days leading up. Check your bus route on the MBTA website.
