DA: Men Who Fell From Bus 'Rough-Housing'

BOSTON (CBS/AP) - The Worcester district attorney said two men were "rough-housing" when they fell out of the window of a moving bus over the weekend. One of the men died.

The bus was travelling at 60 miles-an-hour on Route 2 in Lancaster late Saturday night at the end of a beer-drinking trip to several breweries.

"The initial investigation indicates that the two men had been rough-housing in the back of the chartered bus, near and in the restroom. The two men apparently fell out of a 3-foot-10-inch by 2-foot-5-inch window in the restroom onto the pavement," District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said in a statement Monday afternoon.

A passenger on the bus, Sherry Clement, said Monday she and more than 50 people on the bus were initially in disbelief when they thought two of their friends had fallen from the window.

The disbelief turned to horror when they discovered that 31-year-old Thomas Johnson of Gardner had died.

Thirty-four-year-old Seth Davis of Winchendon was seriously hurt. He's in fair condition at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The bus is owed by Colonial Bus Tours of Quincy.
