Milford Water Co. Slow To Notify Residents About Contamination

MILFORD (CBS) - The Milford Water Company is in hot water again.

Residents were recently informed that an equipment failure and a failure to fix it led to months of elevated levels of copper and lead.

An anti-corrosion valve broke back in October, but the water company's general manager Dave Condrey says it wasn't fixed and he wasn't informed about the problem until February.

Supposedly, an operator forgot about the problem. That person has been reprimanded.

State environmental officials are looking into the incident.

The company has also been ordered to address some chlorination issues.

Just about two years ago, the Milford Water Company had to issue a days-long water-boil order because of contamination.
