Keller @ Large: Forget Snow, Think Positive!

BOSTON (CBS) - If you're fresh off the plane from another part of the country and thought that the start of April meant spring was here for good, April fool.

Welcome to New England, where, as the late, great Eddie Stanky once put it, there are two seasons: winter, and August.

But there's something else you should know about your climatologically bizarre new home -- a gorgeous summer day and evening here have no equal.

So with that in mind, I offer you my little psychological trick for getting through today's disgraceful performance by Mother Nature -- the power of positive thinking.

Focus on how soon we'll be enjoying the things I'm about to mention, and before I'm done, if you haven't forgotten about the horrible weather today, you're just not trying.

Ready?

Sitting on the porch in the morning with birds chirping away as the spring sun keeps your coffee warm... taking a light jacket to work with you knowing you probably won't be needing it... a clam roll, the perfect lunch... the drive home with the top down... the smell of the grill, even before you throw anything on it... grilled sausage on a grilled bun with grilled onions and grilled peppers... grilling peaches while you eat as the fire dies down... watching the stars come out with the sounds of the Sox game off in the distance until you realize it's 10 o'clock and you're still at the picnic table... falling asleep to cricket sounds through the wide-open windows, knowing that another summer day is coming tomorrow.

Did I mention clam rolls? I think I did.

And it's all just around the corner -- if we can only forget about what's happening right now.
