BOSTON (CBS) – Shawn Thornton has not been medically cleared to play and will miss Thursday nights game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to the Bruins.

The Bruins forward received 40+ stitches over his right eye Tuesday night after taking the blade of Blackhawks Fernando Pisani’s skate to the forehead. He practiced with the team Thursday morning with a new protective visor on his helmet, but did not receive clearance from the Bruins medical staff.

Would love to have known what the ‘hawks said to him on his way to the bench. I clearly heard his response to them over the tv, and it didn;t sound like he wanted to make friends.
