Red Sox Make Cuts, Option Atchison

BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox made several roster moves Friday afternoon as they try to trim their roster to 25-players.

Boston optioned right-handed pitchers Scott Atchison and Michael Bowden and outfielder Ryan Kalish to Triple-A Pawtucket, while reassinging four others to their minor league camp.

Among the reassigned players are right-handed pitcher Brandon Duckworth and left-handed pitchers Rich Hill, Andrew Miller and Randy Williams.

Atchison and Hill were both vying for a spot in the Red Sox bullpen.

The Red Sox are now down to 33 players on their active roster and must trim down to 25 before Opening Day on April 1.
