Governor: Fidelity Executives Apologize, Jobs Still Leaving
BOSTON (CBS/AP) – Governor Deval Patrick says top Fidelity Investment executives have apologized for the way they handled their announcement that they're moving more than 1,000 jobs from Massachusetts to Rhode Island and New Hampshire. But the apology likely won't change the fact that those jobs are still moving.

Patrick met Thursday with Abigail Johnson, the president of Fidelity Investments, and group of executives from the company in his Statehouse office.

After Thursday's meeting, Johnson told reporters she had a "very nice meeting," but declined to comment further.
Patrick said last week that he wanted to meet with Fidelity representatives to discuss their plan to relocate the coveted jobs from the company's Marlborough office.
The governor acknowledged last week he was "not hopeful" of reversing Fidelity's decision, but he wanted company leaders to "say that to my face."

Patrick, who was on a trade mission when Fidelity made the jobs announcement, said the state wasn't given a chance to "compete" to keep the jobs.
