Bruins-Canadiens Media War Of Words

BOSTON (CBS) - The drama off the ice is getting more intense than on it, as the Bruins and Canadiens get set to square off Thursday night at the Garden.

It will be the first time the teams meet since the March 8th game when Bruin's captain Zdeno Chara sent Montreal's Max Pacioretty into the stanchions.

Pacioretty is recovering from his injuries, but debate over whether or not he and the team exaggerated the intensity of the hit continues.

The battle is most intense among sports reporters and commentators.

Veteran player and Bruin Mark Recchi opined on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger and Mazz on Wednesday that Pacioretty "embellished" the extent of his injury.

"I thought it was a very irresponsible comment, and irresponsible of the radio host to lead him in that direction," John Lu of TSN in Canada said.

It even led Montreal columnist Pat Hickey to call host Mike Felger, "the village idiot of Boston sports radio".

"Absolutely I led him there," Felger said of Recchi's comments. "But he's old enough and smart enough to not go down the road if he doesn't want to down there. He wanted to go down there."

"The guy is not hurt as badly as it looked. Which is par for the course with the Canadiens by the way," Felger added.
