Westminster College Student Killed By UConn Shuttle Bus

STORRS, Conn. (AP) - University of Connecticut police say a student was driving a shuttle bus that struck and killed another student on campus.

UConn police say 20-year-old David Plamondon of Westminster died Tuesday night after the bus struck him as he crossed a campus intersection.

WBZ-TV's Jack Williams reports.

The driver's name was not released Wednesday, but police said he is a male student authorized to operate the bus and that they have interviewed him. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

UConn police are asking witnesses to contact them. The medical examiner's office classified the death as accidental, caused by multiple blunt impact injuries.

Plamondon enrolled in UConn in 2008 to study chemical engineering and lived off campus. He was also an outfielder for the Lunenberg Phillies semi-pro baseball team in central Massachusetts.
