Driver Charged In Lynnfield Hit-And-Run & Saugus Crash

SAUGUS (CBS) — State police say the truck that hit and utility pole along Route One in Saugus Wednesday evening closing the highway for a couple of hours also hit three cars in Lynnfield.

The driver has been identified as Mateusz Chruscicki, 34, of Beverly. Police say he’s facing several charges including OUI alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and operating to endanger.

Police say the crash is still under investigation, and there were four people in the three cars he hit. Authorities say their injuries were minor.

They add Chruscicki was taken to Mass General Hospital. If he is released Wednesday night he will be placed under arrest; if he remains at the hospital he will be summonsed to court.

The crash closed all lanes of Route One South for some time.

No big surprise that there are drunks on the road during daytime hours. Take a look at how many :workers on the clock” are in bars every day of the week having more than a couple of drinks and you won’t be surprised either.
