NH Man Arrested Trying To Sell Stolen Goods Back To Victim

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) - A Manchester man is learning the hard way that it's probably not a good idea to try and sell stolen baseball equipment back to the person who owns it.

Twenty-year-old Jordan Dearborn was charged with receiving stolen property after police say he tried to sell some baseball equipment that was reportedly swiped from a parked car on March 14.

The 17-year-old victim's father, Al, reported the theft to police and contacted Indian Head Athletics, where he had purchased the gear, in order to get information for an insurance claim.

As the store manager, Peter, was working to find the receipt, he received another call, from a young man who was trying to sell some used baseball equipment. As he listed the items, they began to sound very familiar. The young man also left his contact information.

Peter called Al, and together they worked on a plan with police.

The victim's father managed to get in touch with Dearborn and arranged a meeting to buy the equipment.

Police were waiting when Dearborn showed up with the gear. He was arrested and charged.

Peter says he feels "justice was served in this case."
