Bentley Women Set For Elite Eight

BOSTON (MA) - The Bentley Women's basketball team is in St. Joseph, Missouri ready for their NCAA Division II Elite Eight showdown against Clayton State on Tuesday afternoon.

The Falcons, in the Elite Eight for the first time since 2003, will be looking to extend their current seven-game win streak and build on their 28-4 season.

Led by senior guard and captain Kim Brennan, Bentley will look to overpower a strong Clayton State defense. Brennan propelled the Falcons to their 64-61 regional championship win over Pace University, scoring the game's final seven points in the last 32.4 seconds. She is averaging 14.5 points per game during the playoffs.

Brennan has a strong supporting cast as well, with help from a pair of freshman. Jacqui Brugliera leads the team with 15 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, with Lauren Battista adding 13.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.

The Clayton State Lakers, ranked second overall in the nation, have forced opponents to turn the ball over nearly 30 times a game during their 32-1 season. They started the season with 29 straight wins and their average win margin for the season was 21.6 points. That margin has jumped to 22.3 points in their two tournament victories.
