Light Snow Blankets Area On Second Day Of Spring

LEOMINSTER (CBS) - Just when you thought it was safe to put away your shovel and ice scraper: more snow has arrived.

Plows were out spreading salt and sand on the second day of Spring in Central Massachusetts. A few inches stuck to the lawns and trees, but most streets stayed fairly clear.

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports.

Jeremy Bowman of Fitchburg says it's crazy. "The past couple of days were beautiful. I took my snow tires off my truck, and put my nice summer times on and now I have to break out my shovels and ice melt and everything else."

Lou Blanc went to Rocky's Ace Hardware looking for rock salt, but found they've already traded in their winter supplies for spring.

Bert Roane, the store manager says they in full spring mode. "I think it's pretty crazy, I think Mother Nature is running late at best, and hasn't gotten the memo that Sunday was the first day of spring.... We've kind of switched entirely over to spring time, with fertilizers, and lawn clean up stuff and rakes and shovels and the only shovels I have are for planting stuff."
