Attorney: Meriweather 'Did Not Shoot Anyone'

BOSTON (CBS) - The attorney for Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather told the Orange Country Sheriff's Office his client should not be considered a suspect in a February 28 shooting in Florida.

"We have confirmed that Brandon was nothing but a peace-keeper," Attorney Adam Swickle told the Orlando Sentinel. "All of the witnesses confirmed that at no point did Brandon have a gun, or threaten to shoot, and did not shoot anyone."

Swickle noted his investigator interviewed at least one person who identified another man had a gun and was threatening people with it before the shooting occurred.

He would not deny Meriweather was at the party, but said his client was in no way involved.

Nico Stanley and Quentin Taylor claimed Meriweather shot them during an argument at a house party in Apopka, Florida in late February. The incident stemmed from a fight at a club earlier that evening. Stanley suffered a gun shot wound to the face, while Taylor was grazed by the bullet. The two reportedly did not speak to authorities for nearly a week after the shooting.
