Street Sweeping Begins In North End

BOSTON (CBS) - After a messy winter in the North End, the snow has melted, paving the way for spring. Though, the streets could use some cleaning.

As a result, street sweeping begins Tuesday in the North End.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports.

"As the snow melts, it reveals everything that's underneath, and it's a beautiful neighborhood. Everyone should pitch in and clean up," said one woman who lives in the city.

The Public Works Department will start enforcing parking restrictions that have been posted for two weeks. That's the price for cleanliness.

"It's spring, and that's the last thing you wanna see on the ground is a bunch of trash," said the woman.

Cars illegally parked will be ticketed and towed.
