Judge Postpones Manslaughter Trial Of Nancy Kerrigan's Brother

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) -- The manslaughter trial of the brother of Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan has been postponed until May.

Mark Kerrigan is charged in the January 2010 death of his 70-year-old father, Daniel.

His trial had been scheduled to begin April 29. On Tuesday, a judge agreed to postpone the start of the trial until May 13 because defense attorney Janice Bassil broke her wrist and asked for additional time.

Prosecutors say Daniel Kerrigan died after a fight with his son.

Kerrigan's family says he died of a longstanding heart condition and that Mark was not responsible.

Prosecutors and Kerrigan's lawyers are still awaiting a ruling on a defense motion to suppress statements Kerrigan made to police after his father died, including his alleged admission that he grabbed his father around the neck.
