Tufts President Looks To End Naked Quad Run

MEDFORD (CBS) - For decades, Tufts University students have marked the end of the fall semester by running naked in the cold through the quad.

But, the tradition of the Naked Quad Run came to an end on Monday, with university president Lawrence Bacow saying that the school will no longer sanction the event.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports.

"No, that'd be really upsetting because I did it this year for the first time," said one student. "It was a really good release from the tensions of finals and everything."

The president said he made his decision because he's worried about student safety, saying that it's too cold to be running outside naked, especially if a student has had too much to drink.

The school's Dean of Student Affairs Bruce Reitman and two senior students are working to set up an alternative event to replace the naked run.
